HIGHMOOR TIP - PUBLIC MEETING - 31st October 2007
The meeting was very well attended - over 100 people, showing the strength of feeling in the community regarding the tip. I think this report answers a lot of questions and we hope to see some improvement. There were many penetrating questions asked at the meeting by residents, many of which could not be answered, for example what waste products caused the smells and what components made it up. The capping of part of the tip has been brought forward and the operators are being closely monitored.
We have until February /March to see if any changes for the better happen and also Phil Woolas, Minister for the Environment, has ordered an investigation.
